Carter County Reserve Deputy is convicted felon

ASHLAND, Ky. — The Kentucky State Police is reporting the arrest of Tracy J. Dickerson, 61, of Grayson, Ky. Dickerson had been working for the Carter County Sheriff’s Office as a Reserve Deputy.


KSP received a report stating that Dickerson is a convicted felon and in possession of a firearm.


According to the KSP, an investigation was initiated in regard to the allegations on Nov. 13, 2013, by the Kentucky State Police Ashland.


The investigation confirmed that Dickerson was in possession of a firearm, while performing his duties as a Reserve Deputy with the Carter County Sheriff’s Office.


The Investigation also revealed Dickerson is a Convicted Felon. It was determined Dickerson had been with the Sheriff’s Office for approximately a year and a half and at this time has been suspended.


On Nov. 14, 2013, Dickerson, was arrested and placed in the Carter County Detention Center and charged with Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon.


According to KSP, the investigation is ongoing by Detective Jeff Kelley.
