Ritchie’s Marketplace is sponsoring a western-style cookout on Oct. 4 and 5 to raise money for Pike County’s Relay for Life. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Saturday at 577 S. West Street in Piketon.

Manager Randy Roberts said the store is gearing up for a good cause.

“Every October, we do the ‘Big Beef Roundup’ and feature several meat items at affordable prices. Our employees will be dressing up like cowboys and the store will be decorated in a western motif. I think it’s really important to support local, non-profit charities and it’s really a win-win.We’ll be able to help Relay for Life and promote the store at the same time. It’s all for a good cause,” Roberts said.

According to Roberts, the menu will include grilled hamburgers, hotdogs, and spicy polish sausage. Potato chips and a drink, soda or bottled water will also be available.

Roberts said Ritchie’s Marketplace, with the help of some of their vendors, will be providing the food for the cookout and all of the proceeds from the Relay for Life event will be going to the American Cancer Society.

Volunteers from Fluor-B&W Portsmouth’s Relay for Life team will be there to help.

According Roberts, all of the proceeds will go to research, patient transportation, patient education, scholarships, lodging, beauty treatments and other needs.
