Daymar College held a campus-wide meeting with students and faculty on Tuesday to discuss the future of its New Boston campus. Representatives announced that Daymar will be closing its doors and will not be accepting new enrollments at this location — but will ensure current students are able to finish their degree programs.

This process is commonly referred to as a “teach-out” and means that Daymar is no longer accepting new enrollments while still meeting all of the educational needs of existing students. The decision to teach out at the New Boston campus is a local one and has no impact on Daymar’s Lancaster campus, which serves the central Ohio area.

Daymar officials could not comment at this time.

Daymar officials spoke with students about all aspects of their intentions for the campus and how the students’ educational needs will still be met. Officials also added that they will be available for individual meetings for details and support.

“As the Chancellor for Daymar Colleges Group, and on behalf of all my colleagues, I want to assure our students that we are fully committed to the fulfillment of their education, and that we will continue to deliver an educational experience that will serve them well in their professional future,” said Dan Peterson, Chancellor of Daymar Colleges Group.

Daymar has notified its accrediting body, the Ohio Board of Regents, and the Ohio State Board of Career Colleges about its decision. Daymar will be following the guidance of these organizations throughout the process of closing its doors.

“At this time, no further actions are required by our students, except for the hard work and dedication needed to finish their programs,” said Peterson. “We remain committed to ensuring that every student has the instruction needed to complete their program at the New Boston campus.”

Daymar of New Boston has served students in various programs, including business management, criminal justice, medical assisting, and pharmacy technology. Daymar has a 50-year history and operates out of 14 campuses in three states, as well as online coursework. Daymar is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools, and offer programs in 35 different career tracks.
