Troopers of the Ohio State Highway Patrol have seized 80 grams of heroin worth an estimated $12,000 and arrested two people in the process. Troopers said they stopped a 2013 Chevy Impala, with Ohio registration, for speed and following too close violations on U.S. 23 southbound, near milepost 12, at 6:47 p.m., Friday.
Troopers said criminal indicators were observed and a Patrol drug-sniffing canine alerted to the vehicle. They said a probable cause search revealed the contraband.
The driver, Ericka N. Glover, 39, and passenger, Darius D. Boyd, 40, both from Belleville, Michigan, were incarcerated in the Scioto County Jail and charged with possession of heroin and drug trafficking, both first-degree felonies.
If convicted, each suspect could face up to 20 years in prison and up to a $40,000 fine.
