Sheriff Marty V. Donini says his office has a warrant for the arrest of a sex offender who failed to provide a change of address. Wanted is Jonathon D. Brown, 20, whose last known address was on Winchester Avenue in Sciotoville. Brown is wanted on a third-degree felony charge of failure to change address.

“He moved here from Clinton County,” Scioto County Sheriff’s Captain David Hall said. “And when he moved here he had like three addresses in the first two weeks. He is what we would consider a problem child. We were having issues with him when he was hopping from place to place.”

Brown was convicted was convicted in 2007 for Gross Sexual Imposition. He is 6’2” 180 lbs, with brown hair and brown eyes. Hall said if anyone sees Brown they should contact their local law enforcement agency, so that the sheriff’s office can arrest him. Brown is entered into the law enforcement database with a nationwide pickup.

“We’ll extradite him from wherever he is located,” Hall said. “We’ll put the U.S. Marshals on this case also.”

Hall said, in Ohio, sex offenders are not permitted to live within 1,000 feet of a school, school property, such as a sports venue, or a day care center.

There are several classifications of sexually-oriented offenders. Some require community notification while others do not.

Those designated as sexually-oriented offenders are subject to the registration and verification requirements annually for a period of 10 years after release. Those offenders are not subject to community notification.

In order to maintain awareness of sex offenders living in your neighborhood, the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office has a Sex Offender Registry on their website. The registry will allow you to enter any local address. It will then provide a list of all registered State of Ohio sex offenders living within a one-mile radius within the boundaries of the county. If you are looking for information about a particular sex offender, registered in the State of Ohio, the registry can help there as well.
