SANDHILL, Ky. — Motivated by hope of finding his father, Tim Boyles of Piketon, is continuing to search for his father, Gerald L. Boyles, of Sandhill whose whereabouts have been unknown since September 2013.
Assisted by his cousin Rick Boyles, Tim Boyles said he will comb the Sandhill area in search of his father Gerald L. Boyles on Thursday. He said their search will begin in some fields in Sandhill on Thursday.
“We will start as you go up in Sandhill it would be like the first turn-off instead of going up the ball field. Me and my cousin are going to back in that area and search through the fields,” Boyles said.
He said they will be searching throughout Greenup County as well, and have searched as far as Virginia.
“We have been searching from here to Virginia, to Lima, Ohio. We’ve passed out flyers, and have just been doing everything we can to have him back home,” he said.
He said the city of Ironton was the focus of one their more recent searches.
“We have looked as far as Ironton, because I heard that it was possible that he was in a shelter up there,” he said. “We posted some pictures of my father in Ironton, and passed some flyers out in that area.”
He said the information proved to be a false lead, and was actually a facility for women.
According to Boyles, the last major search for his father was conducted by the Kentucky State Police in Ashland on Sept. 21, 2013, in Sandhill, Ky with more than 40 participants. According to KSP, the search was conducted in coordination with members of local law enforcement, area fire departments, emergency management personnel and volunteers. The search crew met at American Legion Post 276 in South Shore, Ky. to organize for the search. There were five groups. One of the five groups consisted of individuals riding four wheelers.
He said it has been both agonizing and stressful to have his father missing, without any knowledge of his safety or condition, but will continue to search for him.
“We are really concerned. We just want to have him back with us. He has some serious health issues,” he said.
According to Boyles, Gerald L. Boyles has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Gerald L. Boyles should contact KSP at 606-928-6421.
