Members of the youth group at Rosemount Community Church have spent the week giving back to the community through various service projects. The group spent a portion of Thursday afternoon cleaning up Rosemount Hill.
Shawn Ratcliff, youth leader of the church, said the church has hosted a day camp for youth this week.
Participants of the camp have completed various service projects throughout the week, in an effort to give back to the community.
Ratcliff said participants of the day camp range in age from grades 4th -12th grade.
“We’ve gone out through the community and we’ve helped some older people with yard work and cleaning up their houses. We’ve collected food and delivered it to the homeless shelter and today (Thursday) we’re going to be cleaning up Rosemount Hill,” Ratcliff said.
When asked why they are giving back to the community, Ratcliff said, “I think this helps our community look better and to help people realize a clean community is a better community.”
The group started the task of cleaning Rosemount Hill equipped with gloves and trash bags provided by the Lawrence Scioto Solid Waste Management District.
Ratcliff said the reaction from those that have been helped by the group has been overwhelmingly positive.
“We started this day camp on Monday and it will run through Friday. On Friday we hope to help other people in need that may need some help around the church. We will likely end it with cleaning up our church,” Ratcliff said.
