Hands of Grace Ministry, in Portsmouth, is all about compassion. Members of HOGM visited the east end of Portsmouth Saturday to distribute food and clothing to residents in the area in need.
Carmen Josey, member of HOGM, said this is the ministry’s third outreach effort to the community.
“This is our third effort. This is really so important because the east end is the forgotten part of the city,”Josey said. “And we want to reach out the people here, we want to feed them, we want to provide clothing, pray for them and whatever else we can do to help them. That is what we are here for.”
Heather Brant was a recipient of HOGM on Saturday. Brant said she was blessed by the efforts by HOGM.
“This is such a blessing for us. It is just wonderful,” Brant said. “I am just glad they are here to help out. God bless everybody for doing this.”
“I am so grateful for all of the churches that participate. We could not do it without them. People just donate things, and we are so grateful, because we can give it away to the children and adults who are in need of clothing and shoes,” Josey said. “And of course we have hot lunch.
Participating churches are Dry Run Church of Christ, The Portsmouth Salvation Army, Living Faith Temple, Mount Zion Church, and Pleasant Green Baptist Church.
