Ohio EMT Course at SSU

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio – The Office of Event & Conference Services at Shawnee State University will be offering the Ohio Emergency Medical Technician course beginning Aug. 22, 2016.

The course will focus on the principals of emergency medical care, traumatic emergencies, administering CPR, obtaining and recording vital signs, patient handling techniques, as well as other skills over a 16-week period.

The EMT course will consist of 150 hours involving work in the classroom, lab, EMT vehicle and hospital clinic time that will be conducted through the Emergency Department at Southern Ohio Medical Center (SOMC). The course is fully accredited through the State of Ohio, the Department of Public Safety and the Division of Emergency Medical Services.

Classes will be held on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. There will also be two sessions held on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Dates of these sessions will be announced at the beginning of the course).

The EMT course is $700, not including the cost of books. Payment plans are available.
