Another crash on Ohio 73 has claimed the life of a Scioto County man. Killed Tuesday afternoon was Charles F. Roberts, 59 of McDermott
Troopers from the Portsmouth Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said they responded to a report of a one vehicle fatal crash involving a motorcycle on Ohio 73, near milepost 21 in Rush Township. The crash was reported at around 2:48 p.m.
Troopers said Roberts was riding a 1994 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, northbound on Ohio 73 and was attempting to negotiate a right curve, when, according to a witness, they observed the motorcycle go off the east side of the road.
Roberts and his motorcycle struck a guardrail and overturned. Roberts was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Scioto County Coroner. The OSHP said Roberts was not wearing a helmet, even though he had one available to him at the time of the crash.
The Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Rush and Washington Township EMS and Fire Departments, the Scioto County Sheriff”s Department and the Scioto County Coroner.
