PORTSMOUTH — Hill View Retirement Center, 1610 28th St. in Portsmouth, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday for their new Head 2 Toe Manicure and Pedicure Salon. The Salon is not exclusive to Hill View residents, but is also open to the public.
Alisa Burnett, Independent Living Resident advisor at Hill View, said they are elated about the grand opening of the Head 2 Toe Salon.
“We are super excited about Head 2 Toe. It is going to be a great thing for our residents, as an extra service for them, and then also for the community at large, so it is a great thing,” Burnett said.
Kari Skeens, independent contractor who will provide manicures, pedicures, and a host of other services at Head 2 Toe, said several options will be available at the salon.
“We will do manicures, pedicures, acrylics, any basic needs that will accommodate our residents and people from the community that come,” Skeens said. “Whatever they need I will accommodate them. I have also done hair for 16 years, so that is among the other services that will be provided among manicures and pedicures. I am licensed for all three. The main focus right now is that they are excited about having the ‘manny’ and ‘patty’ room.”
Betty Covert is a Hill View resident and is delighted to have Head 2 Toe on the Hill View campus.
“This is something that we have been wanting here at Hill View for a long time,” Covert said. “So, we are just happy to get these types of services, especially for the pedicures. We are so glad to have this here at Hill View.”
Connie Brisker, a long-time beautician at Hill View, said she is glad to have Skeens on the team, and the public is welcome to come in.
“I have been here at Hill View doing hair for 17 years. I do perms, cuts, and we are involving Kari with this, something that is great. I am open five days a week from 7 a.m. until whenever,” Brisker said. “This is open to the public. The public is welcome. I do many public people and I do employees also.”
Kane Bazlier, human resources director at Hill View, said he is excited about the grand opening of Head 2 Toe, and to be able to provide Hill View residents something they have desired for a long time.
“I am excited. The residents have asked about this salon for a while, so I think that everyone is excited,” Bazlier said.
Manicures and pedicure services will be provided at Head 2 Toe Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays beginning at 10 a.m.
