New Boston Cleanup Day is Saturday

If you live in New Boston and you have that stuff you have been trying to figure out how to dispose of, Saturday, May 14, is your day. The village will hold their annual New Boston Cleanup Day from 9 a.m.to 2 p.m.

Village Administrator Steve Hamilton said the dumpsters, provided by reimbursement from the Lawrence-Scioto Solid Waste Management District, will be located behind the New Boston Fire Department.

“We give them $1,000 for cleanup,” Dan Palmer, director of the Lawrence-Scioto Solid Waste Management District, said. “So that enables them to buy at least three rolloffs on the average. It helps the district in cleanup if we can encourage townships and villages to have cleanup events.”

The Village of New Boston has held their cleanup day for a number of years.

“This is for New Boston residents only,” Hamilton said. “They can bring their items to the dumpsters.”

Hamilton cautioned there are items which will not be accepted. Those items include batteries, tires, refrigerators, propane tanks, air conditioners, TVs, computers and paint.

“They can call ahead to 740-456-4103 and if an elderly person needs something cleared out or has a bunch of stuff, we will have guys working Saturday who can go and pick it up,” Hamilton said.

Hamilton said another event people need to plan for is the New Boston Community Yard Sale is 9 a.m.to 4 p.m., June 4. No permit is needed for those wishing to sell items during the community yard sale.
