The Scioto County Sheriff’s Office may have solved a crime spree with an arrest.

Arrested was Justin Holcomb, 28, of Lucasville. Holcomb has been charged with one count of theft a felony of the fifth degree and six counts of theft a misdemeanor of the first degree.

Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini said his office received several calls from residents in the Lucasville area on Saturday stating that somebody had broken into their vehicles and had stolen items.

Donini said Deputy Jay Springs and Deputy Kirk Jackson responded to eight locations around the Lucasville area which resulted in reports being filed for theft from vehicles.

Donini said Springs and Jackson started an investigation that consisted of talking to witnesses and reviewing video surveillance. Deputies were able to locate the suspect and interview him and that resulted in recovering stolen property.

Holcomb appeared in Portsmouth Municipal Court and is being held on a $25,000 bond.

Donini said it is an ongoing investigation that will result in more chares being presented to the Scioto County grand jury. He said the arrest of Holcomb was the result of the fast action and investigative approach of Deputy Springs and Deputy Jackson.

Donini said anyone with information concerning these cases should contact the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office at 740-354-7566.
