WAVERLY — Admirers of ‘bling’ will enjoy the upcoming ‘Blingo’ fundraiser in the fight against cancer on March 19 at 3 p.m. at S&S Fitness, 1957 US 23 in Waverly. The event will be hosted by the American Cancer Society (ACS) Relay For Life team LaVerne & Shirley Sole Sisters.

Park Lane Jewelry will be furnishing the prizes won, with a representative on hand for assistance. A quarter auction with prizes also coming from Park Lane Jewelry will also be held during the course of the event.

LaChona Ferguson, Community Manager, Relay For Life, said the ACS provides a variety of programs and services.

“The American Cancer Society has programs and services to help people with cancer and their loved ones understand cancer, manage their lives through treatment and recovery, and find the emotional support they need. And best of all, our help is free,” Ferguson said.

It is through fundraisers such as the Blingo event which allows the American Cancer Society to offer the programs and services.

“But these programs are only available thanks to funds that are raised in every community by every team,” she said. “Funds raised from this event will go to helping in the fight against cancer by contributing to cancer research, rides to treatment, hair loss and mastectomy products, college scholarships, patient lodging programs, personal cancer guides, online support, and so much more. Together we are truly making a difference in the fight against cancer one dollar at a time.”

She also said that no one will depart from the event empty-handed, but all will receive a prize.
