The fourth annual Main Street Portsmouth, Celebrate Portsmouth Dinner and Auction is slated for Thursday, February 11, at the Friends Community Center.

“Celebrate Portsmouth has really turned into one of our biggest fundraisers of the year,” said Joseph Pratt, Executive Director of Main Street Portsmouth.

He said the event is Main Street Portsmouth’s way of honoring those that make the organization what it is.

“Celebrate Portsmouth is a nice way to give our volunteers, board members and everyone who makes Main Street Portsmouth what it is, a chance to come together to celebrate. We get together to celebrate what we’ve done and the success and growth that we’ve made,” Pratt said.

The event also allows members of the community to interact with each other in a relaxed setting.

“Dinner is being provided by Scott Claypool, he’s a local chief, who’s been utilized for some of our Farm to Table Dinners and the response has phenomenal,” Pratt said.

He said the event will include a full menu. The Party Connection is providing craft beers and wine tasting during the event.

Eric Putman will provide the evening’s entertainment,

“When we started looking for entertainment, everyone suggested we need Eric Putnam,” Pratt said.

Being new to the position of Executive Director of Main Street Portsmouth Pratt said organizing this event has really opened his eyes, to how many people contribute and care about what Main Street Portsmouth does.

Over the course of the evening the Community Action Organization (CAO) and Southern Ohio Medical Center (SOMC) will be highlighted.

“There will also be a silent auction at the event. There will be a little bit of everything at the auction we’ll have a Shawnee State Park Basket, the Southern Ohio Museum has donated some stuff and a number of others businesses,” Pratt said.

The items and baskets will be up for bid throughout the event. The event is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. with a social hour and dinner at 7 p.m.

Tickets for the event can be purchased at the Main Street Portsmouth office inside the Scioto County Welcome Center or by calling 740-464-0203.
