Lucasville woman air-lifted after crash

A Lucasville woman was air-lifted to a Huntington, West Virginia hospital following a Pike County crash Sunday. Juanita Newsome, 58, was taken from the scene with what Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) troopers described as non-life threatening injuries.

The OSHP is investigating a three vehicle injury crash that occurred at around 2:53 p.m. on Ohio 32 at Ohio 335 in Pike County. The Portsmouth Dispatch Center reported receiving a report of a three vehicle crash just outside of Piketon.

A 2006 Ford Tauras driven by Newsome, was traveling northbound on Ohio 335 when that vehicle failed to yield to the stop sign and struck a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Larry Townsend, 41 of Jackson, Ohio. Townsend’s vehicle then struck a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Rickey Neace, 39 of Beaver, Ohio.

Newsome, was air lifted to St. Mary’s Hospital with non- life threatening injuries. The four passengers in Townsends vehicle, Amy Townsend, 39; Page Townsend, 16; Heather Townsend, 12 and Allie Townsend, 14 were transported to Pike Adena Hospital with minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
