The Scioto County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a possible arson case that occurred shortly after midnight Thursday morning. Deputies were dispatched to Ridge Lane in Lucasville in reference to an arson complaint. Dispatch advised deputies the Valley Township Fire Department was already at the scene and that they had requested a deputy.

Upon arrival, law enforcement met with Valley Township Fire Chief Teri Horton who advised them that a vehicle parked in the driveway at 35 Ridge Lane, was on fire and that firefighters had put the fire out.

According to the report, a neighbor told them it was arson and Horton reportedly agreed because the fire was in the cab of the 1993 blue Ford Taurus that burned. The neighbor reportedly saw the flames out his window. When deputies knocked on the door at 35 Ridge Lane, a man answered the door and told officers he had chased a bunch of people off and that they had become angry. He did not know who they were.

It was determined the vehicle belonged to Jason Neff of South Webster and it was at that address to be worked on. No one at the scene knew who started the fire.
