The Ohio Water Development Authority (OWDA) has agreed to a $160,000 loan to fix the village of New Boston’s broken pumps at their pump station.

“It won’t cost the residents anything because we have so much money left over from phase 1 and phase 2 (sewer project) that we will be able to pay it back. With our payment on the $1.2 million, the payment will stay the same because we have so much money that was put toward phase 3 and 4 because of principle forgiveness,” Village Administrator Steve Hamilton said.

Hamilton said the village has two pumps at their pump station that are currently out of service, and the OWDA loan will allow them to be fixed.

“That is to pull them completely out and take them to a shop and have them repaired,” Hamilton said.

Hamilton said that is where the outfall is for the line that goes into Munns Run and that it goes right through pump station 10 where the pumps are.

Hamilton said, with the village receiving the principle forgiveness money to obtain the money from the U.S. Corps of Engineers and with the money left over from phases 3 and 4, the village plans to do more televising and cleaning the lines.

“The last two weeks have been very good for the village,” Hamilton said. “All of its administration people and the Council and the mayor, if it wasn’t for all of us working together this wouldn’t happen. In the last couple to three weeks we have been able to get principle forgiveness money plus the money to get our pumps fixed and that is just people working together to make the community better and to get our infrastructure up to the new standards.”
