Shooting leaves one man dead

Ashland, Ky. — The Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 14 in Ashland, Ky. is investigating a shooting that occurred Friday, Oct. 23, 2015, at approximately 6:06 p.m. at a residence on Greenbriar Road in Carter County, Ky. which left one man dead, according to reports.

Trooper Michael Murriell, information officer for KSP Post 14, reports that Troopers responded to the residence after Carter County 911 received a report from Doug Evans advising his son, Frank Evans, had been shot.

Troopers from Post 14 arrived at the Evans residence and located Frank Evans, 31, of Olive Hill, Ky. injured with a single gunshot wound to the face. Frank Evans was transported to the University of Kentucky Medical Center for treatment, Where he is currently listed in stable but critical condition.

During the course of the investigation it was determined Doug Evans was responsible for the shooting. Authorities said specific details of the shooting incident are not available for release at this time.

Doug Evans, 54, was arrested, lodged in the Carter County Detention Center and has been charged with assault 1st degree, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of marijuana.

The following agencies responded and assisted during the course of the investigation: Carter County EMS and Olive Hill Fire Department.

The case remains under investigation by Detective Jeff Kelley.
