A Minford man has been charged with theft from the elderly. James Ramey, 49, has been charged with theft, a felony of the fourth degree. According to Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini his office was contacted on July 17, 2015, by an elderly female who stated that she paid a contractor to do work and he took the money and never did the work.

Donini said a report was filed and forwarded to a detective for an investigation.

Detectives were able to locate the suspect and conducted interviews which led to charges being presented to the Scioto County grand jury that resulted in a warrant being issued on Wednesday. The suspect was already in jail on other charges and was served with the warrant.

Donini said the incident is an ongoing investigation and more charges could be presented to the Scioto County grand jury at a later date.

Ramey is being held without bond and will appear in Scioto County Common Pleas court on a later date.

Anybody with any information about the case is being asked to contact detective Denver Triggs at-740-354-7566.
