A Waverly man has been injured in a single-vehicle crash that occurred in that community. Hubert Stepp, 49, of Waverly was injured when his truck failed to negotiate a curve.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said it is investigating a one vehicle injury crash that occurred on Carrs Run Road. On Friday at around 2:20 p.m., The Portsmouth Dispatch Center received a report of a one vehicle injury crash on Carrs Run Road just south of milepost 3.
A 1991 GMC dump truck, driven by Stepp, was traveling northbound on Carrs Run Road when he failed to negotiate a curve and overturned. Troopers said Stepp was transported to Adena Regional Medical Center by EMS for minor injuries and was later released. The crash remains under investigation.
Earlier, the OSHP investigated a two-vehicle injury crash which occurred on Ohio 32 at U.S. 23, in Pike County, at approximately 1 p.m.
A 2005 Freightliner semi, driven by Armando Flores, 61, of Laredo, Texas, was traveling northbound on the exit ramp from U.S. 23 at Ohio 32. Troopers said he was attempting to turn westbound (left) onto Ohio 32 when a 2007 Freightliner dump truck, driven by E. David Maynard, 61, of Oak Hill, Ohio, was traveling eastbound on Ohio 32. The crash report said Flores failed to yield at a stop sign and was struck by Mr. Maynard.
Maynard was flown to Saint Mary’s Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia, for non-incapacitating injuries sustained in the crash. The Seal Township Fire Department, Pike County EMS, Piketon Police Department, ODOT, and Pike County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene. The OSHP said impairment was not a factor in the crash.
