Heroin has reportedly been found during a body cavity search of a man being placed in the Scioto County Jail. Steven Kelly Hartley, 36 or 1737 Ohio 23, Piketon, faces charges of possession of drugs schedule I or II substance after a search revealed drugs on Tuesday.

According to the Scioto County Sheriff’s report, sheriff’s detective Matt Spencer spoke with sheriff’s corrections officer Sergeant Bradley Grooms who told him during the intake of Hartley, a bag containing nine individual bags of black heroin was found as the result of a body cavity search.

Grooms said, once the bag was found, Hartley confessed that the substance contained heroin. The report said the substance was not field tested but was placed in a bag for evidence.
