According to a release, Genoa, a QoL Healthcare Company (Genoa), announced Tuesday the opening of their 276th full-service, on-site pharmacy, which is located within Shawnee Family Health Center (SFHC) in Portsmouth. This is their 23rd pharmacy in the state of Ohio.

Cynthia Holstein, CEO of SFHC, said they are elated about having the the on-site pharmacy, and being able to provide the new service to their clients.

“We are very excited to have this new service available to our clients,” Holstein said. “Having high quality pharmacy services embedded within our clinic will be a big benefit to our clients and our staff.”

Mental and physical health providers will be more accessible to SFHC clients.

“Clients will be able to see their mental health or physical health provider and pick up their medications when they leave,” she said. “We are also excited to have a pharmacist on our team who will be able to answer questions from our staff and questions from clients about medications.”

According the release, Genoa is the most experienced specialty pharmacy provider for the behavioral health community. Genoa is improving consumer care and saving centers time and money throughout the country, making a positive impact in the centers they work with and in the lives of the consumers they serve.

Genoa currently operates over 270 pharmacies in 37 states and the District of Columbia, serving 400,000 consumers annually. Genoa offers a unique on-site pharmacy setting based on the needs of the center they are located in and strives to be the provider of choice to both their center partners and their consumers.

Although Genoa is a nationwide company, they have retained the feel of the hometown pharmacy and the services that go along with it. Being on-site allows their pharmacists and technicians to work closely with prescribers, nurses, and caseworkers, to provide the best possible care for each individual consumer.

While they specialize in behavioral health, they have the capacity to fill all medications. They are able to bill Medicaid and Medicare, as well as private insurances. In addition, Genoa also offers several packaging options that can be tailored to fit the needs of the consumers, including specially designed adherence packaging.
