In honor of Native American Heritage Month, Shawnee State University is hosting a Native American Cultural Festival from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 16 and 17 in the Sodexo Ballroom in the Morris University Center.

The Native American exhibit is designed to educate students and the general public about the Native American cultures that lived in this area. Exhibitors from throughout the southern Ohio area will display thousands of Native American artifacts representing time periods starting as far back as 15,000 years ago to the present, including items found around the Shawnee Lower town area.

Those in attendance are also invited to bring items they may have found through the years for exhibitors to identify.

Steve Free will be playing a variety of Native American songs for both days of the festival.

All events of The Native American Cultural Festival are free to SSU students, staff, faculty and to the public.
