Community church Christians Beyond Church, located at 1646 Highland Ave., in Portsmouth, is working to outreach with the community, not only to help and address issues affecting local people, but also to celebrate and rejoice with community members as well. As part of this effort, Christians Beyond Church is holding their first annual Back to School Bash from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 1 at Mound Park in Portsmouth.
The event will include inflatables, carnival games, face painting, cotton candy, popcorn and slime making. And, the entire event is free.
Christians Beyond Church Pastor Nelson Klaiber was excited to invite all to come enjoy the event.
“Life can be heavy, and occasionally we just need some time to play and enjoy one another’s company,” Klaiber stated.
Klaiber added that the church is enthusiastic about such events because they present an opportunity to fellowship with the pastor’s focus of “building community, building community one relationship at a time.”
Church member Anna Johnson explained that she enjoys the opportunity to reach out and provide love and support to her community neighbors.
“Our church has recently started doing outreach projects, and we are excited to just get out in the community to ‘love like Jesus did,” said Johnson.
She added that in addition to be servants of God, the church members work to also be servants of the community. Johnson added that church members offer a spiritual analysis test on the first and third Sundays of every month to help them each realize their own potential, to know where they can best use their skills and traits to serve, whether through worship, children’s ministry, teaching or some form of outreach.
Christians Beyond Church meets on Sundays at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.
