One killed in head-on collision

LEWIS COUNTY, Ky. — According to reports from the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, a head-on collision occurred on Wednesday, Aug. 26, in the area of Tollesboro, Ky., leaving two people injured and one dead.

Deputy Gary Sparks told the Daily Times the head on collision which occurred on Wednesday, Aug. 26, involved a vehicle driven by Mark Andrew Walker, of Burlington, Ky., who succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash, and was pronounced dead at UC Medical Center.

The other vehicle was driven by Adam Smith, of Magnolia, D.E., who was also flown to U.C. Medical Center. Sparks said the passenger in Smith’s vehicle was Stephanie Sund, also life-flighted to the UC. The status of Smith and Sund is presently not known, and is said to be released as it becomes available.

According to Deputy Sparks, the crash is remains under investigation.
