Commuters traveling Gallia Street in New Boston may have experienced slight delays and a cloud of dark smoke Monday afternoon as New Boston Fire Department responded to a car on fire in the area outside of Genesis Oxygen and Home Medical Equipment, located at 4132 Gallia Street in New Boston.

A spokesperson from the New Boston Fire Department explained that the call came in at 2:27 p.m. The spokesperson confirmed that it was a dark Ford car that was in flames. Officials are unsure as to how the fire started.

“We don’t really know why,” the fire department representative stated. “It’s hard for us to tell.”

He added that the car was unoccupied, so there were no injuries.

Firefighters were able to snub out the flames quickly.
