The Village of New Boston invites the community out to enjoy Memorial Day a little early. The Village will be holding Memorial Day celebrations starting at 9:30 a.m. May 22 at the war memorial on Lakeshore Drive.
“We welcome everybody that wants to come, veteran or not,” Village Administrator Steve Hamilton stated. “We want the entire community to come out and be involved in our Memorial Day observation.”
The Village chose to have activities early to allow the school to take part. School would be out on Memorial Day. However, because they are an important part of the community, New Boston wanted to make sure they could attend and still enjoy their day off of school with their families.
The high school band and vocal music class will be performing patriotic numbers, honoring those who have fallen. Hamilton will be giving a Memorial Day speech. And, there will be a local color guard invited to present the colors.
The Village of New Boston is proud to conduct Memorial Day activities each year as a way of remembering and honoring those who have lost their lives in the pursuit of freedom and to continue to instill the importance of such in future generations by involving Village youth in such celebrations.
The community is encouraged to grab their lawn chairs and enjoy the morning with the their neighbors while remembering the importance of the day.
