Twins Melissa (Hayward) Rase and Melinda (Hayward) Cannon, beat near impossible odds, March 30, both giving birth on the same day.
The odds of twins having babies on the same day are 150,000 to 1.
Melinda and her husband Cody were the first to found out they were expecting their first child. Shortly after, Melissa and her husband Kyle found out that they too were expecting, this is the couples second child, big brother Hayes is 2.
Their original due dates were two weeks apart, being April 5 and April 18.
“Of course we couldn’t have planned this, but we just think it’s so ironic and funny. Melinda was scheduled to be induced Wednesday night and I went to the doctor Wednesday morning and he had to schedule me for a cesarean section,” said Rase. “My family has a group message and I messaged them and told them and at first they thought I was joking. I did get to talk with Melinda beforehand and we just laughed.”
Babies, Hattie Mae Rase and Crew Madden Cannon, were born just two hours apart. Hattie was born at 12:13 p.m., and Crew was born at 2:15 p.m. The babies are almost identical in height in weight as well, Hattie being 6 lbs. 10 oz. and 19 inches long. Crew Madden was born at 7 pounds even and 20 inches long.
“It’s hard to explain, but this is just the perfect example of how our life is,” explained Rase. “I was surprised and shocked but at the same time I just had a feeling it was going to happen. We’ve shared everything our entire lives, it just makes sense that something like this would happen.”
Both families say they are enjoying their new additions and look forward to raising their children together. The pair hopes their children share a special bond like they do.
