As part of the Southern Ohio Veterans Memorial Highway project, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Portsmouth Gateway Group are preparing for construction on County Road 28 (Lucasville-Minford Road), and closure of the route will be going into effect the first week of April.
Lucasville-Minford Road is now scheduled to be closed Monday, April 3, and along with its closure will be a weeklong closure of Township Road 1570 (Rase’s Mountain Drive). Rase’s Mountain will be closed April 3 through 9 at its junction with Lucasville-Minford during the first phase of reconstruction at the intersection.
Crews from the Portsmouth Joint Venture will be installing culverts, completing drainag and subgrade work, and continuing excavation between Rase’s Mountain Drive and T.R. 381 (Flowers-Ison Road). Construction of the substructure for Bridge 11, which will be the Lucasville-Minford Road overpass for the new highway, will also be performed in conjunction with this phase of the project.
The closure of Lucasville-Minford Road will allow the contractors to expedite construction activities through the spring and summer months and diminish the long-term impact to both residents and motorists.
While Lucasville-Minford Road is closed, traffic will be detoured via C.R. 549 (Glendale Road), S.R. 139 and High Street in Minford. During the closure of Rase’s Mountain Drive, motorists will be detoured by way of T.R. 227 (Hickman Road). And while Rase’s Mountain Drive will be open to traffic within a week of its closure, Lucasville-Minford Road is scheduled to be reopened on August 1, prior to the start of the Scioto County Fair.
