It appears a Portsmouth man shot his wife, then later shot himself. Dead are Crystal Watson, 39, and Larry Watson, 47, both of the residence where the shooting took place — 357 Edendale Rd., in the Eden Park area of Portsmouth.
About 12:30 Saturday morning officers responded to a call concerning two people being shot. That call originated from a family member of Larry Watson.
Larry Watson, who told the family member he had shot his wife in a domestic dispute, reportedly told his relative he was going to kill himself.
When officers arrived both Larry Watson and Crystal Watson were found deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.
Scioto County Coroner Dr. Darren Adams responded to the scene and ordered both victims be taken to Montgomery County for autopsy.
Adams told the Daily Times at the time he believed it to be a murder-suicide
Portsmouth Police Captain Lynn Brewer said the shooting remains under investigation, but it is believed that it is domestic related and there is no cause for alarm in the community.
Detective Chuck Crapyou and Detective Steve Brewer have been assigned to investigate the incident. Anyone who may have additional information on the shooting is encouraged to call the Detective Bureau at 740-354-1600 or the Police Dispatch line at 740-353-4101.
