Main Street Portsmouth hosted their annual Celebrate Portsmouth dinner March 9.
Main Street Portsmouth Executive Director, Joseph Pratt said the event went off without a hitch and he’s already looking forward to planning for next year.
“Celebrate Portsmouth is Main Street’s only event geared completely towards fundraising our mission of growing downtown Portsmouth. Our budget increases every year, as we widen our scope and increase our services, but the community continuously steps up to the plate and makes Celebrate Portsmouth a success each year,” said Pratt.
Main Street Portsmouth is a non-profit organization with a mission dedicated to developing downtown Portsmouth through a variety of services from creating events and assisting local business owners, to beautification efforts and maintaining public spaces.
“Southern Ohio Medical Center (SOMC) is the event sponsor and they handle a lot of the legwork needed for the comfort of the guests. Our board continues to serve dinner to our community, and our auction items continue to grow better. It is great to see so many people in support of our work,” Pratt said. “We also use this time to celebrate our volunteers and discuss a year in review. I enjoyed explaining our increased programming and events, our amazing volunteer work impact of over $100,000, and the success of our building improvement grant, which caused over $70,000 in development in 2016.”
Chef Scott Claypool curated the cuisine for the evening and guests had the opportunity to enjoy an open-bar while mingling or bidding in the silent auction.
Table sponsors included SOMC, the Daily Times, OSCO, SSU, Gracie Plum Financial, Hunter Williams Insurance, SSU, the City of Portsmouth, Glockner, Century 21, Copies Galore, American Savings Bank, and US Bank.
“It is a great opportunity for networking. The city councilman, manager, and key employees are present to meet with local business leaders and movers and shakers,” explained Pratt. “It is a great night of good food, good news, and great company.”
