The Portsmouth Parks and Recreation Committee will be hosting a ‘Kids Movie Night’ event in Mound Park on Saturday, Aug. 15 with a free movie beginning at dusk.

Rich Saddler, chairman of the Portsmouth Parks and Recreation Committee, said the upcoming Kids Movie Night is one of a series of activities they will host for the community.

“It’s just one of our activities that the Portsmouth, Ohio Parks and Recreation committee is doing this summer to give children and their families something to do on Saturday evenings one night a month through the Summer,” Saddler said.

The event is free, and open to the public.

“Due to copyright infringements we are not allowed to advertise the name of the movie on TV, radio or newspaper but we can advertise it on social media,” he said.

For more information regarding the film to be shown at the Kids Movie Night event visit the Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/groups/portsmouthparksandrecreation. Saddler said he is very passionate about the volunteer service through the Parks and Recreation Committee.

“I would have to say that I am passionate about this, I was born and raised in this town, my father served as fire chief, and of course, I am on city council, and I am a public employee with the state of Ohio, and I just have a love and a passion for this community,” he said.

Concessions will be available to purchase food during the event, and all proceeds will go to benefit the local park system.

The Portsmouth Parks and Recreation Committee meets every second Tuesday each month at 6 p.m. in the Stone Building at Mound Park. Saddler said the public is encouraged to attend.
