Ohio Suicide Prevention Foundation offers two trainings

Staff Report

The Ohio Suicide Prevention Foundation (OSPF) is offering two Kognito trainings for all Ohio students attending Ohio colleges and universities. The training sessions will educate students on how to recognize the warning signs of distress in their peers and how to help them find support. OSPF will be offering sessions focusing on LGBTQ on Campus and Veterans on Campus.

The LGBTQ on Campus session will focus on the unique challenges faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning students and their fellow students.

The Veterans on Campus training will educate and focus on the challenges of post-deployment life of military members while attending college.

These trainings are available online and free to all students attending colleges and universities who are interested in being knowledgeable and prepared to help their fellow classmates. These courses will use avatars to enable trainees to practice tough conversations when they see a student at risk. With these simulated conversations, trainees will build their confidence in recognizing, discussing and referring their fellow students who are or may be in distress or at-risk for suicide to the appropriate services
