Man arrested for burglary in Vanceburg

According to reports from the Vanceburg Police Department, Perry W. Knell, 29, has been charged with third-degree burglary and second-degree criminal mischief, following an incident which occurred in Vanceburg, Ky., last week.

According to reports, on Monday a call was made to the area 911 with information regarding a suspicious person that was lingering in the area at a sawmill on Ky. Rt. 59 in Vanceburg. Vanceburg Police Officer John Ferguson arrived at the scene, and was able to spot the suspect, who attempted to flee into a wooded area. Shortly thereafter, Ferguson was able to capture the suspect and take him into custody.

It is reported that damage was made to one of the buildings of the sawmill, and is believed to be from an attempt by someone trying to gain access to the building. Knell was arrested and transported to the Lewis County Detention Center.

An investigation is still being conducted by Officer Ferguson, according to reports.
