Located at 631 Second Street, the Boneyfiddle Pie Factory welcomed the public for the first time on Nov. 15. After only being open for a few days, the business is already seeing success.
Owned by Ben Davis and Zack Sims, the duo set out to bring a twist on the traditional dining experience. Both Davis and Sims operate other business ventures through the Trinity Business Group and met through their work. After Davis’ first business partner backed out, Sims stepped up to partner with Davis to bring his vision to life.
“We want to bring this area alive again, there are a lot of things going on behind the scenes right now and things are happening. We wanted to be here and be a part of that. We wanted to create an area here, similar to a mini-version of Short North in Columbus. We want to see more businesses and restaurants come in,” said Davis.
Centered around a steam-punk theme, the menu offers pizzas, subs, appetizers and fresh baked pies.
“It’s honestly really good pizza, you get a lot of toppings and the quality is incredible. You definitely get more than your money’s worth. I ate one slice and I was full,” said first-time guest Lukas Maschmeier.
Guests can order specialized pizza like the Boneyfiddle Boiler, a spicy pizza which features baby spinach, smoked salami and spicy pepperoncini peppers or they can build their own pizza, customizing it to their liking.
Davis says this week has been a learning experience, he and the staff are still working out some kinks but things are going relatively smooth for having been open less than a week.
“Tuesday we were a little overwhelmed by the number of people who showed up,” said Davis, “But business has been phenomenal. It’s been great every night, from lunch to dinner.”
Both Davis and Sims are optimistic about the outcome and have received positive feedback about their business venture thus far.
“We’ve got anonymous comment cards for our customers, so they can fill it out and tell us what they like and what isn’t working,” Davis explained. “We welcome that, we definitely want to learn and grow. I think we can bring the area to life again.”
