A man wanted on five outstanding warrants is in the Scioto County Jail, he and his alleged accomplice face a multitude of additional charges.

Pike County Sheriff Charles S. Reader said on Wednesday deputies responded to a residence on Long Fork Road in reference to an active burglary.

Deputies arrived on the scene and apprehended Zachary Atencio, 31, of Waverly and Haley Gregory, 23, of Jeffersonville, Ohio. While at the scene, deputies said they located a large amount of stolen scrap metal, aluminum cans and copper wiring inside the suspects’ vehicle and were able to return the property to the owner.

Deputies said they also located drug paraphernalia containing white powder residue inside the vehicle.

Reader said while deputies were questioning the suspects, they learned of another property where scrap metal items were stolen from an abandoned residence in the Leslie Lane area by the same suspects earlier in the day.

Atencio was transported to the Scioto County Jail for five outstanding warrants for his arrest as well as charges of possession of drug paraphernalia. Both Atencio and Gregory are facing multiple charges of breaking and entering and their cases will be presented to the next term of the Pike County grand jury.

Two people from another arrest by Pike County deputies were also incarcerated in the Scioto County Jail. Wednesday, deputies responded to Pleasant Hill Road in reference to a tip of a possible active methamphetamine lab. Upon investigation deputies said they discovered a bag containing items commonly used to manufacture methamphetamine outside the residence.

Deputies said they made contact with Dustin Cutler, 32, inside the residence and upon questioning Cutler they said he admitted the items belonged to him. Olivia Young, 18, was also located inside the residence and taken into custody for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.

Cutler was later charged with illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for manufacture of drugs, a third degree felony, and transported to the Scioto County Jail. Young was also incarcerated in the Scioto County Jail.

Pike County Sheriff Charles S. Reader said his office greatly appreciates and encourages any and all tips brought forth by the public.
