Here is the list of all of the Summer Camps at the Paramount Arts Center this summer.

Week 1 of camp will be June 19-23 and will feature the following classes:

Zoo Dance from 8:30 am – 10:30 am for ages 3-5

Our youngest campers will experience creative movement, storytelling, music and drama as they explore all of the creatures from the zoo!

Acting from A to Z from 8:30 am – 12:0 pm for Ages 8-13

If you love being in the spotlight – this class will help show you the way to stand out from the crowd. Audition tips, what certain stage terms mean, how to create a character with your voice and body and work on a monologue or scene.

Hip Hop from 8:30 am – 12:00 pm for Ages 5-8

Get your groove going as you learn hip hop steps and the beginnings of stage tumbling and freestyling.

The Sky’s the Limit from 8:30 am – 12:00 pm for ages 6-11

Learn about space, the stars, planes and spaceships and all of the fabulous things in our universe through arts and craft projects.

Build Your Dream: Production Construction from 12:30 – 4:00 pm for ages 12-18

Learn how to build sets for theatre including making a flat, painting techniques, the use of foam and other materials to create textured looks and help create the set for our Production camp!

Hip Hop from 12:30 – 4:00 pm for ages 9-13

Take your dance skills to the next level as you learn new steps and techniques to share with your friends.

Jewelry Making from 12:30 – 4:00 pm for ages 6-12

Earrings, necklaces, bracelets, accessories, you name it! Define your style as you create jewelry to match your personality and the latest fashion.

Our second week of camp will be July 10 – 14.

Busy Town from 8:30 am – 10:30 am for ages 3-5

Our youngest campers use creative movement, dance, storytelling, drama and arts and crafts to spend a week in Busy Town!

Why Do you Sing? From 8:30 am – 12:00 pm for ages 12 – 18

So you are in a musical. Why is your character singing – and why are you singing? The larger than life world of theatre gives us thousands of works to sing, but we have to know why we do it! Learn a basic understanding and appreciation of theatre and the process of singing.

Jazz it up! From 8:30 am – 12:00 pm for ages 6-12

Have fun with dance as you learn some basic steps, turns, leaps and the latest moves with jazz dance. No dance experience necessary.

Drawing Bootcamp from 8:30 am – 12:00 pm for ages 9-15

Anyone can draw. It is a skill that can be taught. The camp is an intensive exploration in realistic drawing for students who want to know the secrets and skills required to produce realistic drawing and illustrations. The instructor will give students individualized instruction and help with portfolio development.

Tie-Dye from 12:30 – 4:00 pm for ages 7-12

Learn basic tie-dye skills to create designs on t-shirts, socks, bandanas, art work and more!

Angelina Ballerina from 12:30 – 4:00 pm for ages 5-9

Go on a ballet adventure with Angelina Ballerina as we read stories, dance, make costumes and make new friends.

Drawing with Color from 12:30 – 4:00 pm for ages 9-15

Expand your drawing skills as you venture into color to create realistic drawings and illustrations.

The Language of the Stage from 12:30 – 4:00 pm for ages 10-18

Actors speak in a whole language. Upstage is down and downstage is up. Where is stage left and stage right? Blocking? Subtext? If you love acting and want to improve your knowledge of the meaning of theatre speak – this is the class for you!

Our third week of camp will be July 17-21

In the Forest from 8:30 – 10:30 am for ages 3-5

Our youngest campers take a look at life in the forest through creative movement, storytelling, drama and crafts.

So I’m Cast – Now What? 8:30 am – 12:00 pm for ages 10-18

Being cast in a production is only the first step of the process. Creating a believable character takes some work! Students will explore character development exercises, mock auditions and will build an acting resume.

Photography from 8:30am – 12:00 pm for ages 11-18

Learn basic camera settings, vocabulary, and photographic techniques to take your shots to the next level and beyond. Students will need a camera that is capable of manual, shutter and aperture mode.

Paramount Cooks from 8:30 am – 12:00 pm for ages 8-13

Gain the knowledge and safety skills necessary to be able to make their own food with little or no assistance once they master the basic skills. Also learn about healthy eating and how to prepare healthy food. Best of all – you get to eat what you cook!

Modeling from 12:30 -4:00 pm for ages 8-13

Walk the runway and learn how to strut your stuff. Learn the latest makeup trends and how to apply makeup and style hair for any occasion. One day will feature a photo shoot and each girl will receive a comp card for your portfolio.

Sail Away from 12:30 –4:00 pm for ages 6-12

Boats, sunshine, ocean, fishing, lakes! This craft camp explores anything dealing with water as students explore their creativity and create works of art to display and wear!

July 10-14 and 17-21 from 8:30 am – 4:00 pm will be our Production Camp: ANNIE JR. for

ages 8-18. There will be a free performance on Friday, July 21 at 7:00 pm.

From audition to production this camp takes you through every aspect of putting a show together. Singing, dancing, sets, costume, makeup, developing characters, lights, sound and of course a final performance of ANNIE JR. for friends and family.

A new children’s Summer Show Choir camp for ages 8-13n will be 3:00 – 5:00 pm beginning June 6. The group will explore a variety of styles including pop, show tunes, country and more.

Registration forms with additional information including cost can be found on our website at www.paramountartscenter.com. We are able to provide some partial or full scholarships based on financial need.

The Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, supports the Paramount Arts Center with state tax dollars and federal funding from the National Endowment for the Arts. Support is also provided by the Paramount Woman’s Association and private donations.
