If you like hot cars and cold treats, a Minford Thursday night is exactly what you need.
From 6-9 p.m., every Thursday night, nearly 100 people head out for the Minford Car Show at the Minford Post Office, near the Dairy Bar.
The event not only draws out those with fast cars but also those who like fast cars. Parents bring their children and husbands bring their wives to hear the engines rev.
Christine Goddard, of Minford, says she goes for take a vehicle to show but also to see the other cars and to be able to spend time in the community.
“I take our old pick up truck,” she commented. “I enjoy seeing the cars. I love loud, fast cars. And, I enjoy the people. They love to show off and take about their vehicles. We have an 87 Chevrolet, nothing special like some of the cars, but it is a joy to cruise around in.”
Goddard added that in the three years the cruise-in has existed, the community has really gotten involved and helped it grow.
“The post office parking lot, the lot across the street, the telephone companies lot and the feed store lot are usually full,” she stated.
Goddard also has some favorite cars.
“Dennis Massey’s Chevelle, Bill Mullins’ Corvette, DeNise Cook’s Nova and Dale Payton’s Impala are just a few of my favorites that frequent the Minford show,” she commented. “Roger Blackburn brings in a couple beauties too.”
All are invited to stop by or cruise in for the weekly show.
