Local U.S.D. 1812 Chapter officers attend State Council

The Ohio Society, United States Daughters of 1812, held their 117th State Council in Mansfield on May 6, 2017. Representing the Scioto Valley Volunteers (SVV) Chapter was Treasurer, Mary Crist, Registrar Gail Swick and Recording Secretary Carolyn Hilliard. Hilliard represented SVV President, Beth Normand, in presenting the Chapter’s President’s Report.

Gail Swick, on behalf of the SVV, accepted the first place certificate for members purchasing the most 1812 insignia for 2016. The SVV also was

awarded “Second Place, Category Five, Scrapbook” by the U.S.D. 1812

National Scrapbook and Pressbook Chairman, Linda Shabo.

Eligibility for membership is extended to women age 18 and over who can provide satisfactory proof that they are lineal descendants of an ancestor, who during the period of 1784-1815 inclusive, rendered civil, military, or naval service to our country, or rendered material aid to the U.S. Army or Navy.
