The Paramount Arts Center will hold their 2nd Lip Sync Competition on May 13 at 7:30 pm. Last year’s premiere competition featured performances from over 20 local businesses, church groups and individuals and was an extremely successful fundraising event for the Paramount Arts Center.
This event was originally scheduled for October of 2016, but had to be rescheduled due to a conflict. Teams performing include the Ashland Fire Department (a huge favorite in last year’s competition!), Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital, King’s Daughters Medical Center, Marathon, Dr. Dwain Porter/Porter Chiropractic, Ultimate Treatment Center, Ashland Area YMCA, and the PAC Board of Directors and Friends.
Groups have three minutes and 30 seconds to strut their stuff on stage, lip syncing to any song or medley of songs. Teams use costuming, props and creative staging to bring their number to life on stage. The Grand Champion is chosen by the amount of money raised. Anyone can vote for a team at only $1 per vote. Votes can be made online at www.paramountartscenter.com or by visiting the box office. Voting will also be held on the 13th until 10 minutes after the last performance. The Judge’s Choice awards are given to groups who receive high scores in creativity, costuming and accuracy of lip sync. There is also a People’s Choice Award that is chosen by audience applause.
This year’s event will also include a silent auction with some great items including tickets to Cincinnati Reds games, tickets to Holiday World Amusement Park, a child’s Princess party package and more! While browsing the silent auction items, voting for your favorite team or waiting for the results to be revealed, entertainment, featuring songs from their upcoming 2017-18 season will be provided by the Paramount Players.
Tickets are $40 and proceeds from the event will be used for youth education programs at the Paramount and in local area schools. You can purchase your ticket now by contacting the Paramount Arts Center at 606-324-0007.
The Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, supports the Paramount Arts Center with state tax dollars and federal funding from the National Endowment for the Arts. Support is also provided by the Paramount Woman’s Association and private donations.
