On May 5 at 6 p.m., Portsmouth STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Academy will be holding its inaugural graduation ceremony on at Life Point Church, 1644 11th Street, Portsmouth. This ceremony will include awards for all students and a special celebration for the Kindergarteners and Seniors. The Portsmouth STEM Academy is proud to announce its first graduating class, consisting of students, Bailee Estep and Allen Barnhart.

Bailee Rosanne Estep, age 18, was born a micro preemie in Columbus, Ohio where she weighed 1 pound, 14 ounces and 11 inches long. She attended Wheelersburg from kindergarten through seventh grade and Ohio Virtual Academy from eighth to eleventh grade. Bailee loves to read, write, listen to music, sing, and theater. Bailee plans to pursue a career in writing. Her dreams are to become an author or work on films. She really enjoys learning about films, actors, and screenwriters.

Allen Michael Clark Barnhart, age 16, was born in Cincinnati, and moved to the Portsmouth area when he was 5 years old. He attended Portsmouth West from kindergarten through the tenth grade. Growing up he loved to play Legos, hunt mushrooms, catch bugs, read books, and play with his cats and dogs. At the age of 8, Allen started practicing the Japanese martial arts of Aikido and Kendo. His practice continues and he has travelled throughout the United States with his teacher, Dr. Inoshita, participating in numerous kendo tournaments and as a member of the United States Kendo Junior National team. Allen plans to attend Shawnee State University pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology with the goal of a career in the sciences.
