Shawnee State Park Lodge, 4404 St. Rt. 125, and the Ohio Ornithological Society will be hosting a Warblers and Wildflowers weekend. Tickets are available at www.ohiobirds.org.

Shawnee State Park will be hosting a Morel Mania weekend, guest speakers from ‘More than Morels,’ will share art, recipes, tips on how to find mushrooms and avoid the toxic ones. There will be a presentation about mushrooms at 7 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. til 2 p.m. there will be a variety of activities at the Campground Amphitheater. The Sugarbeats will be performing at Port City Cafe and Pub, 424 Chillicothe Street at 8 p.m.

The Paige’s Promise Foundation will be hosting a day of activites at 6651 Harding Avenue from noon until 6 p.m. There will be live bands, vendors, bingo and more.

The Portsmouth Shade Tree Commission will be hosting its annual Tree City celebration from 12-3 p.m. at Tracy Park in Portsmouth.

April 30

The Southern Ohio Museum and Cultural Center will be opening a new exhibit April 30, from 1-3 p.m. Titled, ‘Extended Relationships’ the exhibit showcases the work from three artists, one from Ohio, one immigrant from Cuba, and one immigrant from China.

May 1

Port City Cafe and Pub will host Theology on Tap, from 6-8 p.m. in the Club Room. Everyone is invited to join Fr. Steve Cuff from All Saints Episcopal Church for “conversations about stuff that matters.” It’s an informal discussion, so feel free to bring yourself, your friends, your questions, your faith, your doubt.
