Sciotoville Community School (East High School) held its Spelling Bee for grades 6-8 on Friday, March 3, 2017. Twenty-three competitors, the top spellers from their individual classes, competed in several rounds of competition. The winner was eighth grader Casie Marcum. Casie is the son of Larry Marcum and Bree Jones. The runner-up was eighth grader Andrew Johnson. Andrew is the son of Jim and Lettie Johnson. Casie Marcum then advanced to the County Spelling Bee, which was held Saturday, March 4th. Casie performed very well at the county bee, where he placed second as runner-up.
