NAME:Telena Pate

JOB TITLE & COMPANY: Owner of Whit’s Frozen Custard of Waverly and Chillicothe, Ohio

WHAT IS YOUR FONDEST COOKING MEMORY? I have so many great memories: watching my mom make homemade corn dogs, the taste of my grandmother’s cornflake fried chicken, and dad’s delicious homemade spaghetti sauce.

HOW LONG HAVE YOUR LIVED/WORKED IN THE COMMUNITY? I lived in the New Boston and Eden Park area until 2003, when I relocated to the Piketon/Waverly area. I attended St. Mary’s and Holy Redeemer and graduated from Clay High School, and I’m also a graduate of the Shawnee State Dental Hygiene program.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE FOOD? My favorite food is a steak, grilled at home, in the back yard, on a breezy summer day.

WHAT OR WHO INSPIRES YOU TO DO GOOD, AND WHY? As most have experienced, I have had my share of trials that life can throw at you, but I always want to present the best to my children, work hard and be kind to all. I just thank God daily, for all He has put into put into my life, and the daily strength He has given me to keep going.

WHY DID YOU WANT TO BE A PART OF THE CELEBRITY CHEF DINNER? I was invited for the first time this year, and am always excited to meet new people and help within the community whenever possible.

DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU WILL BE MAKING AND IF SO, WHAT IS IT? We will be bringing Whit’s Frozen Custard that is made fresh daily in our stores. Our custard is a wonderful, smooth and creamy premium ice cream product that is like pure silk on your tongue. Once you’ve tried it, you won’t want to go back to regular ice cream! The flavors we’ll be bringing for to the event are French Vanilla, Lemon Raspberry, Crème Brulee, and Espresso.
