On February 10th, the Portsmouth High School (PHS) Mock Trial Team advanced to the Ohio Center for Law-Related Education (OCLRE) Mock Trial State Competition held in Columbus, OH on March 9-11.

The first phase of the competition will take place on Thursday and Friday at the Franklin County Courthouse with the final trial taking place at the Ohio Statehouse on Saturday morning.

The PHS Mock Trial Team advanced by defeating Notre Dame High School and Ironton St. Joseph High School.

Student Attorneys Micah Simmons and Sara Born won Outstanding Attorney honors for their respective trials and Sarah Simmons earned the Outstanding Witness award for her trial.

PHS will be one of 32 teams competing in Columbus for the opportunity to become State Champions. Mr. Bill Shaw is the legal adviser for the Portsmouth High School Mock Trial team.
