Portsmouth West Local District will be hosting registration and orientation for upcoming Kindergarten students.
The registration will take place at the Portsmouth West Elementary on Tuesday, April 19 from noon until 6 p.m.
For those who cannot make it on this date, they can register the following day, April 20 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
In order to be eligible for Kindergarten, students must be five years of age before September 30, 2016.
The Kindergarten teachers will also be present for both sessions to answer any questions and ease the student’s anxieties.
Children must be present during the time of registration and will be required to have vision and hearing screenings. This can take some time, the school recommends allowing at least two hours for the registration and screenings to be completed.
Parents or guardians must present the following information to complete registration:
- Copy of the original birth certificate (not the hospital certificate)
- The child’s Social Security Card
- Complete Immunization (Shot) record
- Proof of Insurance or Medical Card
- Custody documents if eligible
- Proof of residence
If your child needs an immunization shot, The Ohio University bus staff will be providing free shots for those ages birth to 19. The bus will only be at Portsmouth West Elementary on the Tuesday, April 19 registration date. The bus will be present from noon until 6 p.m.
