PORTSMOUTH— According to Scioto County Commissioner, Scottie Powell and Rosemount Assistant Fire Chief, Eric Brown, when the two set out on a mission with Community Action Organization of Scioto County (CAO) six months ago to form a swift water rescue team, they didn’t expect the benefits to include a situation that arose early Tuesday morning that resulted in someone being rescued during a medical emergency.

PORTSMOUTH— Shawnee State University will hold a Bear Run on Wednesday, Sept. 27 beginning at 6 p.m. Held on SSU’s campus since the fall of 1995, the Bear Run is a biannual 5K run/walk open to the campus and surrounding communities. All funds raised during the Bear Run will support SSU Athletics.

Scioto Foundation announces new Future for Scioto County Scholarship Fund

PORTSMOUTH- The Scioto Foundation is pleased to announce the establishment of the Future for Scioto County Scholarship Fund created by Ohio State University senior Austin Meyers for the benefit of local students throughout Scioto County. A 2020 graduate of Wheelersburg High School, Meyers is one of a number of young people in the area who have started new scholarship funds at the Scioto Foundation in recent years because they want to give back to their home community.
