Mark Dantonio, Thad Matta, Andy Kennedy.
Add Brian Kelly to the list.
For years now it seems Cincinnati has been the little brother of the sports world. I understand the Reds and Bengals have been long-suffering but UC and Xavier University both play in major conferences but no matter how good they get, it's impossible to keep a coach.
Maybe it is impossible for a school like UC in football or Xavier in basketball to reach the level of Ohio State or Notre Dame or even Michigan State but if that's the case I say give the mega-prestige schools their own league.
Obviously I'm not in favor of breaking down the NCAA but I do wonder what the point of trying is for Cincinnati's two major universities.
Xavier makes the top 25 at least every other year in basketball and UC football has had three-straight great seasons, back-to-back Big East titles and just completed an undefeated season.
While I sure do thank Mark Dantonio, Thad Matta, Andy Kennedy and Brian Kelly for doing a good job while they were there, I think they could have done much more by staying in Cincinnati.
As for Kelly. I hope things go well for you at that mess of a program in South Bend. But if it doesn't and they turn on you faster than they turned on Charlie Weis, we'll get a kick out of watching you try and get a job then.
