South Webster junior Connor Scott and Minford senior Duncan Jordan highlighted the local selections to the 2009 Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association All-State teams, earning a place on the first team.

Scott and teammate Braden Ruth, a senior and second team selection, were instrumental in leading the Jeeps to a 19-2 record and a spot in the regional tournament where the team fell 2-1 to Worthington Christian.

"Connor played center-mid for us and is just extremely talented. He sees the field very well and has the ability to play the ball where it needs to go. A big part of our offense usually came through Connor," South Webster coach Corey Claxon said. "Braden had an incredible year. He led our team in goals with 33. He seemed to always work hard to be in the right position to finish."

Jordan, who was joined on the All-State team by second team selection and fellow senior Jacob Hackworth, led the Falcons to a 17-2 record and a district runner up finish.

The All-State honors were icing on the cake for Minford's top two players. Hackworth was already named SOC Player of the Year and Jordan was named Southeast District Player of the Year.

"I just can say that I'm going to have two huge vacancies next year because they were team leaders and incredible soccer players," Minford coach Theresa Havens said. "They were a major part of all of our accomplishments this year."

Also earning second team honors for Scioto County teams were Wheelersburg senior Kyle Brooks and junior Dillan Lewis. Lewis finished the season with 37 goals, one short of the single-season record at Wheelersburg, and has 69 for his career.

Brooks scored 20 goals with 15 assists this season.

"They're both outstanding players," Wheelersburg coach Paul Boll said. "(Dillan) is just a very quick player with a very good understanding of the movement of the ball on a soccer field.

"Kyle is a big powerful soccer player," Boll added. "He can drive the ball between people. He has the finesse to keep control of the ball when he's getting a lot of contact."

Pirates' assistant coach Don Lewis, who according to Boll has a combined record of 354-92-34 as a head and assistant coach, earned Assistant Coach of the Year honors.

Wheelersburg finished the season 14-5, falling to South Webster in the district semifinals.
